NEW PLYMOUTH HARRIERS
RUN FROM WESTOWN SCHOOL. There was a small attendance of only 20 for the New Plymouth Harrier Club’s weekly meet which was held from Westown school on Saturday afternoon. There were two packs again and the first pack under the control of C. Robertson with F. White and V. Hodgson pacemakers, set off in a southerly direction from the school. The course followed was across country in the usual direction as far as Eliot Road, just past the factory, and then to Ratapihipihi reserve. The track through the reserve was followed and then back on to open country again, where a spell was taken. On resuming, the runners headed for Barrett’s lagoon, which was soon reached, and then went on to Barrett Road. The going was very hard about here owing to a great amount of blackberry and numerous swamps. After running for a short distance down Barrett Road the pacemakers turned in across country again and ran along the side of the lagoon and back on to the usual course to come out on Wallath Road. There was a run home from the bus stop and the boys arrived back after a very enjoyable run of about eight and a half miles.
