EUROPEAN NATIONS’ PACT
GERMAN ADHERENCE WELCOMED. “BEST METHOD FOR EUROPE.” British Wireless. Rugby, July 26. The decision of the German Government to adhere to the European Pact has created much satisfaction in London and has also been cordially welcomed in Paris. In addition to Britain, France, Italy, Belgium and Germany, Poland, Greece and Hungary have joined or notified their adherence. Its object is to eiiable major (European problems to be faced iri a spirit of candour and mutual assistance, which proved so advantageous at the Lausanne Conference. The Times in welcoming Germany’s decision expresses the view that since the pact lias been instituted its need has been emphatically underlined by Herr Nadolny’s plea at Geneva for the recognition of Germany’s equality. The Times thinks the pact offers the best possible method for taking up this question and reaching agreements therein, and considers that the -'sooner this question is faced the more likely it is to be satisfactorily solved.
