The second of the series of Catholic euchre parties was held in the band room on Tuesday evening. Nine tables were occupied. The results were: Mrs. Mischewski I, Mrs. Bishell 2; Mr. C. Shotter 1, Miss R. Potroz (playing as man) 2. Supper was provided by the ladies.
A very successful function under the auspices of the young people of the Church of England was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday night. The hall was gaily decorated with streamers. Mrs. Trass supplied the music. Excellent supper was provided by the young people. The monthly meeting of the W.C.T.U. Was held on Wednesday afternoon. The visiting members were Mrs. Coles, district president at Invercargill, of the anti-gambling department, Mrs. Jemison, Cambridge, who is visiting her sister, Mrs. Eager, and Mrs. Reed of the W.C.T.U., Taranaki superintendent of the anti-gambling department. Mrs. Reid read an interesting paper on this subject of gambling. During the afternoon items were given by Misses J. and R. Fenwick (duet), and the Misses Thomas (a duet in Maori).
