EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT

PACK MEETS AT MR. PEARCE’S.

FOLLOWERS ENJOY GOOD RUNS.

In gloriously fine weather tha Eg-inont-Wanganui Hunt Club’s pack met at “Weraroa,” the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Pearce, Waitotara, on Saturday. This is always a. most popular meet and on Saturday there was <y large, crowd of riders and spectators in ■ the field. The fences on the properties of Messrs. G. V. Pearce, C. Pearce, E. Parsons and F. Train wore in perfect condition, and the paddocks were ideal for motoring, thus ensuring the onlookers a splendid view, of the jumping. Unfortunately the gullies rather spoilt the length of the runs, but nevertheless a large, area of country was placed at the convenience of the hunt. There were several short runs on Mr. C Pearce’s property, but the hares all took cover in the gullies and, if closely pursued, crossed and the hounds hunted alone on the other side. One short run in Mr. Parsons’ property resulted in a kill, and the longest chase of the day came on the properties of’ Messrs. G, V. Pearce and Train before the hare finally broke away into .very rough country and hounds were called ■ off, At the conclusion of the afternoon Mr. and Mrs- Pearce entertained a. large fathering at tho homestead and Dr. Simmons thanked all concerned for the entertainment of the hunt, to which Mr. Pearce, replied. On Friday the Hunt Club ball will be held at Waverley in the Town Hall and the following day the point-to-point will take place.
