ACCIDENT NEAR WHANGAREI.
By Telezraph.—Press Association.' i
Whangarei, July 4. A dual drowning tragedy was disclosed on Saturday off Taiharuru, on-the East Coast. Two Whangarei fishermen, Srecko- Alach and Frank Glucina, set off in an auxiliary boat on June 26. Much anxiety was occasioned over their failure to return, and a launch was dispatched in search. Maoris on the const observed a fishing craft at anchor for three days, and. this morning discovered the body of Alach tangled in a fishing line in a swamped dinghy. There is no sign of hi. companion. The police are investigating. A formal inquest for' identification purposes was held to-day concerning Alach. No further light was thrown on the nature of ( the tragedy, though it is supposed that Glucina and Alach were fishing dangerously near the rocky coast in a dinghy belonging to the former’s auxiliary fishing boat Sadie, which was anchored out, and that the unusually heavy swell capsized the small craft. Everything was intact aboard the Sadie, which was brought to port last night
