Rec. 8.40 p.m. New York, June 9. In the inaugural programme of. the Madison Square Garden Corporation’s new outdoor arena Strangler Lewis won the so-called catch-as-catch-can world’s heavyweight wrestling championship, throwing Dick Shikat, the German, with a headlock after one hour six minutes. Twenty-five thousand people witnessed the contest.

The arena was built to accommodate 80,000 and will be used for the Jack Sharkey—Max Schmeling heavyweight championship prize fight on June 21.
