W.D.F.U.
STRATFORD BRANCH.
The usual monthly meeting of the branch was held on Tuesday, June 7, and was attended by about 50 members and visitors. Mrs. Nowell (president), was in the chair. Advice was received from the manufacturers of laminated wool that it would be better for farmers to buy the standard article rather than send their own wool to be treated, as the process was too costly. Members were interested in a sample of laminated wool on view at the meeting.
The gift afternoon to have been held at the home of Mrs. Savage during this month, was to be held in St. Andrew’s Hall, when it is hoped to have Mrs. T. Jackson, Dominion president, as guest of honour. The knitting competition created a lot of interest. There were many excellent entries, and the judge (Mrs. Wickham) was given a difficult task. Prize winners were, members, Mrs. McRowall, first, Mrs. H. Graham, second; non-members, Mrs. Binnie first, novice class, Mrs. Carroll (Midhirst) first.
