CENTRAL CROQUET CLUB.
MEMBERS’ ANNUAL MEETING.
The ninth annual meeting of the Central Croquet Club was held on Thursday afternoon. There was a good attendance, presided over by . Irs. Bw - ing. . The report and balance-sheet disclosed a very prosperous year. The roll was 24 playing members and five honorary
members. The New Plymouth competitions were entered for but the membeis won only one trophy, the C silver button of the New Zealand Croquet Coun-, cil. This was won by Mrs. Alley. For the first time the members had a silver challenge cup to compete for. This was won by Miss Putt for the championship of the club. The club competitions were won as follows: —A championship, Miss Putt; runner-up, Mrs. Drake; B championship, Mrs. C. West; runner-up, Mrs. F. Binnie; handicap doubles, Mesdames Ford and F. Binnie; runners-up, Mesdames Carter and Turner. The prizes were presented by Mr. Horton, president of the New Plymouth Bowling Club, on closing day, when the members were the guests of Mr. R. Linn, vice-president. Two brass vases were also presented to Mesdames Ewing and Carter, president and secretary. Gifts were made to the greenwarden and caretaker. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mrs. Ewing; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. F. Carter; vice-presi-dent, Mrs. T. Tait; executive, Mesdames Ford, Tribe, Drake and Turner; match committee, Mesdames Tait and Alley, and Miss Putt; tea committee, Mesdames Clare, W. and C. West, and Hollows; delegates to Taranaki Croquet Association, Mesdames Ewing and Carter.
A donation of £1 Is to the funds of the Welcome Lodge was given.
