Th© preparation of Handel’s oratorio “Judas Maccahaeus” was commenced by tho New Plymouth Choral Society ou Tuesday evening. Features of the composition are variety and dramatic force. It contains plenty of singing for the choir, and the splendid attendance at the initial rehearsal indicated‘that the work is being received with enthusiasm, and the weekly practices should afford members a great deal of pleasure for the next three months.
