The most striking return on a big scale reported for some time is from a claim at Upper Nevis, where work has now ceased for the season. For the last live weeks of the season’s run the wash in a paddock previously stripped was worked and gave a highly payable yield. . The gold was on view in the National Bank of New Zealand at •Cromwell and was quite an Intoiefeting exhibit. , ■ When work is resumed in the spring some further big yields are confidently anticipated, as the deepest ground with two lifts will be worked. The claim is remarkable for its consistent gold production and is likely to continue for many years.
