There was no slackening in the inquiry for shares on the Stock Exchange to-day, the business embracing a wide range. Bank shares were stronger and Colonial Sugar and leading industrials were buoyant. Barrier stocks also improved. Sales to-day were: Commercial Bank of Sydney, £l7 2s 6d; Bank of New ■South Wales, £29 ss; Union Bank (New Zealand delivery), £7 15 s; Colonial Sugar, £46 10s; Burns Philp, 43s 6d; Adelaide Steam, 18s 9d; Huddart Parker, 265; Millaquin Sugar, 26s 3d; Henry Jones, 30s lid; Berlei Ltd., 21s 6d; British .Tobacco, 325; Tooth’s, 30s lid; Toohey’s, 19s 9d; Austral Gas A, £5 18s 6d; Goldsbrough Mort, 24s 3d; Australian Glass, 40s 6d; Dunlop Perdriau, 12s 8d; .Nestles (pref.), 29s 4|d; Winchcombo Carson, 19s 3d; Broken Hill Proprietary, 16s 9d; North Broken Hill, 61s 6d; South Broken Hill, 41s 9d; Sulphide Corporation, 8s; Commonwealth bonds, 4 per cent., 1938, £95 Us 6d; 1941, £92 2s 6d; 1944, £9l 18s 6d; 1947, £9l ss; 1950, £95 12s 6d; 1953, £9l 15s; 1957, £9l 12s 6d; 1961, £9l 15s.
