GENERAL ITEMS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The first evening’s play for the euchre aggregate took place last week at the Lower Mangorei school. The winners were Miss Stanley 1, Miss Stanton 2; Mr. E. Smith 1, Mr. N. Skelton 2. Mr. Frost was master of ceremonies for the dance which followed. Mr. Ashman played extras. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. Morris and partner. Repair work is still being carried out on the water, main, which was broken during the recent storm. Miss' Jordan has returned after spending a few days with Miss Sampson, Bell Block. Mr. and Mrs. F. Staples and family,' Dargaville, have left for Marton after spending a part of their vacation with Mrs. C. Jordan. ■The members of the Kent Road and Korito ladies’ guild recently held _ a social evening, the proceeds to assist the District Nurse Association. Permission was obtained to hold the function at the Korito school, the committee to make no charge. Songs, recitations, Highland dancing and competitions, interspersed with dances, made a programme which an appreciative audience thoroughly enjoyed. Those taking part were Mrs. Parker, Misses Martin, Murch, Weir, P. and R. Weir, I. and J. Mace and Messrs. Murch and Reader. The ladies of the district provided a supper. The president, Mrs. Parker, thanked those present, particularly mentioning those who had come from New Plymouth to take part, the pianiste, Mrs. Fabish, who crave her services free of charge, Messrs. 8. Keast, Lopdell, Symons, Miller, Ekdahl and Plummer. Mrs. Parker announced that the amount raised was £3 13s.
