MIAMI SHOOTING.

LANCASTER’S DIARY. LOVE FOR MRS. MILLER. New York, May 5. Captain Lancaster’s love for the Australian flying woman Mrs. Keith Miller is revealed in a diary kept by the English airman, who has been charged with the murder of the American airman Haden Clarke.

The diary has been seized and may be used by the prosecution. Notes on the fly-leaf explain that “Chubbie” means Mrs. Miller and that “Russell” stands for J. F. Russell, a man who has been charged with smuggling at Key West. Passages in the diary between the dates of March 30 and April 20 include the following:— Nogales: No news from Chubbie. The little devil. I should not think of her so much. She does not deserve it. Los Angeles: Russell showed-me letters from Mrs. Russell saying that Chubbie and Clarke visited her, and she thinks Clarke has gained Chubbic’s affection, and “Bill has lost it.”

Los Angeles; Wired Chubbie every cent I could raise, leaving me fiat 'broke; but God may provide. How to get out of the hotel is the Why no news from Chubbie? 4 a.m.— Tired telephoning Chubbie; but she is not answering. I. am ill with nervous worry.

Tuscon: Impatience for my departure has been brought on a bit by worry over Chubbie. She must need money. If only Chubbie answered something besides, “Do not worry, I still love you.” Thank goodness 1 am firmly resolved to end all this mental strain, and have it out, then work for our common good. I adore her, and I want to see her happy. She has two personalities and I love both. Chubbie, angel, it will not be Tong now before I see and hold you. Tuscon: I am going to Miami, whatever happens, to find out first-hand about everything. I love you, Chubbie. I have done my best, but failed.
