IMPROVING WEATHER

STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will still be unsettled with further rain, heavy on parts of the east coast, especially between Cook Strait and East Cape. There will be snow on the ranges. An improvement should commence to-morrow, especially in western districts. A cyclone is still centred near Cape Maria Van Diemen, but is at last showing signs of movement. Pressure has fallen at Chatham Island but is very high at Hobart. There will be south-east to southwest winds, moderate to strong generally and in places reaching gale force. Seas will be rough to heavy in Cook Strait and on the east coast, and there will be considerable southerly swell on the west coast.

In the eastern Tasman Sea there will be strong southerly winds or gales and rough seas.
