GIRLS’ FRIENDLY SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of the G.'FjS. was held in the Lodge on Tuesday last, Archdeacon Gavin presiding, and there being present Mrs. Saunders (chair), Mesdames Martin (treasurer), Lysdris, Newman, Home, Shoemark, Misses Wilson, Curtis, Norman; Hemptoh, and the matron.

The matron reported that permanents were asking for a cheaper tariff, and it was decided to charge 22s 6d weekly for single rooms for permanents and 28s for casuals. It was decided to. advertise the Hostel and the reduced rates in the hope that this might induce more girls to come.

Sundry people were thanked for gifts of vegetables and fruit.
