CHAOS IN NEW SOUTH WALES
GOVERNOR’S EXAMPLE ASKED. QUESTION OF RESPONSIBILITY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, May 4. This official statement has been issued by the executive of the Employers* Federation of New South Wales:— "Wo read with grave concern the remarks attributed to the Governor (Sir Philip Game) in regard to the affairs of the State, and as the members of the federation are law-abiding citizens, having the welfare of the State at heart, the executive respectfully urges the Governor to point out the way of duty to all law-abiding citizens in order that the chaotic conditions referred to by his Excellency may be remedied.”
In his speech the Governor said: “I agree that affairs are in a chaotic condition, but as the country has had selfgovernment for 75 years and the people have accepted the responsibility of selfgovernment, it is the duty of the people, and not of the Governor, to find a way out of the trouble. I will help as much, as I can, however, to bring about a state of peace.”
