CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETS. HOPE'S FOR OTTAWA CONFERENCE. The council of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce met at New Plymouth last nicht. Present were Messrs. L. M. Moss (president), A. F. Sandford;- A. H. Bone, S. Rawle, J. W. Darby, E. C. Hay ton, J. McNeill, Gordon Fraser, W. H. Jones, M. J. Neville, A. M. Purser and W. G. Stewart. . , Haying inquired into the matter oi season tickets on the railway, the council’s railway committee suggested that the railways might perhaps make that class of travel still more popular if they could issue monthly or quarterly tickets at any date for the full month or quarter following the date of issue. The council decided to refer the committee’s suggestion to the railway de-

partment. . ... As one interested in the economical management of New Zealand’s transport facilities, Mr. J. McAllister, Whanga.tnomona, asked the memhere of . the chamber to peruse the railway tunetables which he had drawn up with a view to making recommendations to the Minister of Railways and the Minister of Public Works. The time-tables refer’ to the time when the Stratford main, trunk shall be completed. Consideration of the time-tables was referred to the railway committee of the council. . Looking forward to decisions being made at the Imperial economic conference which would 'be fruitful to closer economic union in the British Empire, the Wellington chamber forwarded a resolution asking that chambers of commerce in New Zealand should, be asked to use their best endeavours to secure the utmost co-operation among primary, secondary arid commercial interests so that the New Zealand Government’s representatives to the conference might be accorded every support and help in any steps taken to achieve satisfactory commerciail agreements with other units of the Empire.
