HONOLULU LYNCHING CASE

CONCLUSION OF EVIDENCE.

By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Honolulu, April 25.

Testimony in the Fortesque lynching case has ended, an alienist for the prosecution holding that Lieut. Massie, one of the accused, was sane. Mrs. Fortesque wept as the events leading to the case were recalled. The attorneys will address the jury on Tuesday. There is a prospect of the case going to the jury on Wednesday, the result depending upon whether the jurors consider the case according to legal aspects or exercise human sympathies skilfully evoked by the defence in Massie’s and his wife’s testimony. Many observers expect disagreement or a compromise verdict on some lesser crime.
