WAR COUNCIL'S FUNDS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I notice from a report of the meeting of South Taranaki Returned Soldiers’ Association that dissatisfaction was expressed with the administration of the War Council’s funds iu Taranaki and that an investigation into present and past administration by the Taranaki committee be asked for. I think the South Taranaki returned soldiers might, in fairness to the Taranaki committee, have indicated to the people of Taranaki, who so handsomely subscribed to the funds for the relief of disabled soldiers and their dependents, in what way the committee has erred, in its administration, and further what has prompted them asking for an investigation. As far as the committee is concerned it welcomes any investigation. Personally lam satisfied, that no fund in New Zealand has been more conscientiously administered than the War Funds branch of Taranaki. The committee’s one and only object is to deal with the applications from the fund in a fair and impartial manner, and no man or dependents, who have had a just claim on the funds, has ever received anything but sympathetic consideration by the committee and the committee’s representatives throughout the province. I respectfully ask the South Taranaki Returned Soldiers’ Association, on' behalf of the committee, to publicly state their reasons for dissatisfaction in the administration of the funds, and also their reasons for asking for an investigation. Thia, as I have already pointed out, is not only due to my committee, but to the returned soldiers of Taranaki and subscribers to the fund. 1 am, etc., J. W. McMILLAN, Chairman for the Taranaki Branch Committee of the War Funds Council. • Stratford, April 26, 1932.
