HURFORD ROAD FAREWELL

A social to farewell Mr. and Mrs. ■Lyford and family was held at the Hurford Road Hall on Friday, when nearly all the local residents and several from outlying districts attended. Between dances songs were given by Miss H. ‘Brown, Miss E. Reynolds, Mrs.. R. Spence and Mr. A. Hoffman, and recitations by Miss O. Richardson, Ml items being encored. The accompaniments •were played by Mrs. M. Reynolds and Mrs. J. Thomas.

After supper the guests of the evening were escorted to the centre of the flo'or by Mr. W. Maloney, who called upon Mr. Bewley, their late employer, who spoke highly of the satisfactory wav in which they carried out their duties during the four years they were in. charge of the farm. Mr. Maloney presented the guests with a travelling rug on behalf of the settlers. Master Billy Maloney presented a school writing set to Master Percy Lyford and a toy motor-car to little Lenny Lyford on behalf of the school children. The Lyford family is going to Dover Road. Dancing was continued till the early hours of the morning, music being played by Mrs. M. Reynolds, with extras by Mrs. J. h nomas. Mr. J. W. Thomas was omitted from 'the recent list of the new hall committee, of which he is a member.
