Fire destroyed a Waverley .boqtehop on Sunday - afternoon. The premies/ in the centre' of i the township,' were occupied and owned by Mr. T. Krcager, bootmaker. Volunteers saved sohie .of "the stock. ' ' '

Mr. F. Taunton gave the alarm on discovering dense smoke issuing from .the top storey window, and the volunteer brigade was quickly on the scene. Willing helpers were at once busy removing the stock from the shop. Such a quick hold did the Ranies secure on the building that helpers simply threw boots and shoes to ‘the roadway in order to get them out of the building, by this'time a raging furnace. It was quickly seen that nothing could gave the building and every effort was put forward to eave the next building, a large garage occupied by Mr. Taunton. .In this the .brigade was successful, only one corner of the building being affected, although considerable water found its way into the office and, front showroom. The wind veered to .the south as the lire gained hold; otherwise a more serious conflagration might; Eave - resulted.
