LABOUR PARTY ACTIVITIES

NEW PLYMOUTH MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held on .Thursday. Mr. Charles Pryor, president, was in the chair.

The secretary, Mr. W. Richards, intimated that he had- been advised by Mr. J. G. Ford, Inglewood, that between 40 and 50 names had been secured and the formation of a Labour Party branch in Inglewood was contemplated. A telegram from the New Plymouth branch had been sent congratulating Inglewood ou the progressive move made in the formation of a branch and wishing it success.

It was also decided that a letter of appreciation be sent to the national executive for the recent visit of Messrs. Carr and Langstone.

Two members were admitted to the branch.

The report of Mr. W. Hunter, branch delegate to the Easter conference, was received. A special meeting is to be called next week for discussion on all conference reports. Mr. B. Thorne, chairman of the dance committee, said he was very sorry to lose the assistance of Mrs. A. White, for her capable service while in charge of the supper room had largely contributed to the success of the dances. Mrs. J. Baker was appointed to replace Mrs. White. It was also regretted by members that Mr. W. Richards, who for over six years had given valuable service as secretary could not see his way to continue, but stated that his heart would always be in the movement and he would still be, as he always had been, willing by every means in his power to do his best for its success. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. Charles Pryor; vice-president, Mr. W. Hunter; secretary, Mr. G. Fleming; assistant secretary, Mr. G. Butler; executive, Mrs. A. White, Messrs.
