The chums were', thoroughly enjoying themselves playing overbacks, and both Gwen', and'.Ted proved-themselves very-good at the game. Gwen, especially, flew like « bird. Polly couldn’t jump, but she did her bit by encouraging the others. “Qver she goes,” cried Polly, as Gwen flew over Richard’s back.
The game .was proceeding merrily enough when Richard created a diversion. Attempting to-'see’ how high he really could.leap, he gave a very special bound, and simply flew into the air, high over Gwen’s head. "My!” chuckled Polly, “That was a leap K you like.”- •" "Bravo, Richard,” cried Ted, “that was the best, yet” - . ' - «• .* ' ' '
Richard landed with a hump on the ground, and sat there triumphantly, I “What did.you think of that for an over-back?” he aeked, Gwon.’. '' “It certainly was' a good one,” admitted Gwen, “but X , don’t suppose you eouldtdo it again.” ' : •“Couldn’t i;’j argued Richard,- “Well, I’ll show you the proper way to do it when I get my breath.”
Richard proceeded tp show the chums the correct way to make a very high leap. “S’pose you don’t go over?” queried Gwen. S “Then over you go,:Gwen,” laughed Polly. “Don’t be silly, Polly,” begged Richard. .... ;
Gwen must be congratulated on her courage in allowing herself to be used in such a fasfiiorij for it was quite certain that,, if Richard failed in his jump, he must knock her. over; Richard, however, would listen to no suggestion of failure, and at fat Gwen, consented, . . “Now, then, ’’ cried Richard, “I’m coming 1 Hold tight!» But-Gwen did not look too sure about things!

He knocked her over andsat on her head! Gwen was very rightly annoyed, but Richard said it'was her fault because •he moved,. - “Moved!” shouted Gwen indignantly,.''The next time you start to jump, I certainly shall move.” " ‘‘Where to?” asked Richard. “Out-of your way, of course,” Gwen replied. / ■ And that would- be a very wise jmove, too, don't you think?
