Mrs. Weir has returned from a short holiday at New Plymouth.

Mrs. F. B. Wylds, who has been the guest of Mrs. Carson, returned to Hawera on Tuesday.

Mrs. McGrath was hostess at a very enjoyable afternoon on Monday.

Mrs. H. P. Best was hostess at a very enjoyable afternoon during the week.

(Miss N. Campbell, who has been spending a few days at Eltham, has returned to New Plymouth.

Miss Langstone, who was the guest of her mother for the week-end, has returned to Palnierston North.

Mrs. W. D. Ross is the guest of Mrs. G. Cooper.

Mrs. Guy Cooper' was hostess at tea last Friday afternoon for Miss Joan Hawken.

Mrs. R*. Lee was hostess at tea on Monday afternoon.

On Saturday night the Misses D. Jones and J. Mann were hostesses at a most enjoyable dance in the Anglican parish hall for Miss Langstone, Palmerston North.

Miss P. Street, Egmont Village, is the guest of Miss E. Belcher.

Mrs. Pruden, New Plymouth, is staying with Mrs. C. J. Belcher, Rawhitiroa.

Mrs. Leuthard, “Brookdell,” Eltham, accompanied by her daughter, has left for the South Island for a motor tour. They will spend a month’s holiday.

A delightful gift afternoon in honour of Miss Joan Hawken (Waverley) was held at the residence of Mrs. T. B. Crump on Saturday. The hostesses were Mesdames T. B. Crump, W. Hardwicke Smith, A. Chrystal, D. Syme and Misses A. Wilson and E. Belcher. Mrs. Crump to receive the guests was wearing a smart frock of black georgette. Miss Hawken wore a frock of black ring velvet and deep cream lace yoke. During the afternoon humorous competitions were held and much enjoyed by everyone. Among those present were Mesdames J. R. Stewart, T. Valintine, N. D. Connell, A. McWilliam, G. Cooper, E. Wilson, A. Stewart, D. Crawford, A. H. Best, E. Rutherfurd (Stratford), G. McGregor, J. Valentine, Guthrie, H. Belcher, Misses M. Porritt (Stratford), I. Taplin, P. Taplin, H. Wilson, W. Carter, Clarke, W. Carman, B. Pease, and N. Campbell.
