CAR TAKEN FROM GARAGE
CONVICTIONS AT GREYMOUTH. TWO MINERS BLAME LIQUOR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, March 29. Clement Stanley Maurice Magon,.aged 23, and William Allen, aged 30, miners, were convicted of breaking into a garage and the conversion of a car, the property of Philip Courtenay Heaphy, Grey mouth. Early on Sunday morning they broke Into a garage at Paroa and stole two cases of benzine. They were arrested at Hokitika, when the car stuck in loose ground after leaving the road. Accused pleaded guilty and said that they were under the influence of liquor. On the conversion charge each was fined £lO, in default one month’s imprisonment. On the theft charge each was fined £5, in default 14 days’ imprisonment. They were ordered to refund the value of a damaged overcoat and rug, valued at £6. Magon was ordered to pay costs on a charge of driving without a license. _
