POST-SECTION PLAY BEGINS. FOUR RINKS LEFT IN CONTEST. The last two rounds of section play and the first games in the post-section play of the South Taranaki bowling tournament were completed yesterday under good conditions. The rinks skipped by Rowe (Elthain), Bull (Hawera),' Andrews (Manaia), Mason (Park), Harrison (Elthain), Stephenson (Opunake) and Maslin (Hawera) won their -way into post-section play, but in the first three games Andrews, Bull and Stephenson were eliminated by Rowe, Mason and Harrison respectively, Maslin having the .bye.. Maslin a bye. ‘ On the Park green at 9 a.m. to-day Harrison will meet Maslin and Muson will play Rowe in the semi-final. The ,final will be contested after lunch. GENERAL ITEMS. Nine passenger flights were carried out over' Hawera yesterday, the pilot being Mr.' B. Haybittie and the machine one of those belonging to the Western Federated ?NJ.) Flying Chib. Conditions were ideal and the enjoyed a good view of Hawera and the surrounding country. To take par t in a single-pen egg-lay-ing contest at Massey College, Palmerston North, ten birds will be sent from Hawera by to-day’s mail train. The competition, which will extent over a period of 12 months, commences tomorrow. Hawera fanciers represented will be Messrs. E. M. Galvin, W. H. Barker, C. Goodson, A. R. Watson and C. H. Cross.
