BRITISH TARIFF

DOMINIONS’ PRODUCTS. ORIGIN CERTIFICATES NEEDED. < London, March 8. Australian and other Dominion imports are subjected to unexpected difficulties in. the absence of certificates of origin. This renders them liable to the 10 per cent, tariff. Several importers have requested help from Australia House, as the Customs is insisting on evidence of origin apart from bills, of lading. The Australia House staff has greatly smoothed the difficulties. Customs officials are now reasonably interpreting the regulations, but it is emphasised that this leniency is temporary. It is essential that, future cargoes should be accompanied by certificates which can be obtained from Trade Commissioners in Australia.
