POPPY DAY.

At the historic London Guild Hall in th® presence of a brilliant and distinguished galaxy of England’s notability, Mr. William Fergusson Massey, P.G., was invested with the freedom of the City of London. There were also present Sir Joseph Ward, Bart., and Sir Thomas McKenzie. It was in those dark and anxious days of 1916 when the life blood of New Zealand’s truest sons ran like water. Yet there was no faltering of purpose; our boys fought on; grim, brave, tenacious, parasite ridden and cold; with no thought of their own sacrifice. Mr. Massey said then “We shall fight on till the last man, and the last shilling.” How thrilled everyone was, aye, and it was true. New Zealand gave of her best then. What will you give to those of these men who have fallen on evil days and are now in need of your aid? Poppy Day falls on Tuesday, April 22. Save a little for that day.
