By TtligTßph.—-Press Association- • March 21 James William Harbord had nothing to aay further than admitting the charge when he appeared in the Pettme Court to answer a charge of theft of sums totalling £lll4 3s Id, the property. of the Upper Hutt Borough Council, by whom he was employed as town clerk. _ ■ 1 A detective said that according to aecused about £6OO had gone into a butchery business at Upper Hutt. Ho understood that was recoverable. The rest had been spent on private debta and only 12s 6d was left.- Harbord had gone out of his way to assist in straightening affairs since his arrest. Harbord was committed for sentence.
