FARM TRAINING FOR BOYS
EXTENSION IN CANTERBURY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Being of the opinion that the Cheviot Hills estate, a portion of which was recent-, ly offered by Mr. J. Connolly, M.E, for use as a farm training centre for city boys, is unsuitable for the purpose, the committee set up by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce to consider the matter has decided with regret that it cannot approve of it. , Meanwhile, in response to overtures made by the committee the Unemployment Board has agreed to extend the No. 4a scheme to place 50 lads on Canterbury farms, granting each boy an allowance of five shillings weekly.
