AUSTRALIAN NAVY
THE NEW COMMANDER. DEPARTURE FROM ENGLAND. London, March 8. Before leaving England for Marseilles to-day on his way to Australia to take command of the Australian Navy, RearAdmiral Robin Dalglish told a reporter he did not want to arrive or leave “with a flourish of trumpets.” “I want to go quietly and leave quietly,” said the admiral; “and I am determined to make a success of the appoihtment.” Asked about two volumes on oratory which he carried under his arm as the train left Victoria station, the admiral, who is renowned as a fleet humourist, said: “I shall know something about public-speaking, and I should be ready for the Millions Club.” The admiral’s personal staff, with the exception of a Royal Navy petty-officer, will for the first occasion be entirely Australian.
Rear-Admiral Dalglish is a close friend of Sir Philip Game, Governor of New South Walee. His wife will arrive in Australia at the end of the year, the children remaining at school in England.
