STATISTICS OF LENDING LIBRARY. DONATIONS TO THE MUSEUM. Arising out of the meeting of the committee of the Carnegie Institute on March 16, the New Plymouth Borough Council had before it on Monday night the report of the librarian (Mr. K. L. Low) that during the preceding 25 days on which the library was open the issues from the lending department totalled 10,797, including 940 in the children’s section, making a daily average of 431. Forty-nine new subscriptions were registered and 30 subscriptions cancelled. Accessions to the library totalled 99, under the following classifications: Religion 1, sociology 3, science 1, fine arts 1, literature 13, history 5, travel 3, biography 3, novels 66, children 3. _ Letters of thanks had been sent to the following donors: Mr. Lucas, porcupine fish; Mr. Inch, photographs; Mrs. Blanchard, photographs; Mr. Lysons, list of electors, province of Taranaki; Mr. J. Houston, photographs.
