SEVEN-A-SIDE RUGBY
KAPONGA EASTER TOURNAMENT. ❖ A Rugby follower offers the following criticism of the teams engaged in the Kaponga Easter seven-a-side Rugby tournament: —: . Clifton have two teams and one team ought to be a very fit one as there are many athletes at Waitara. Tukapa have been training and should give a good account of themselves. East End are a new team and may be a surprise packet. The Inglewood team are a “snappy” seven and are confident they will “give them all a go.” Celtic (Stratford) have two teams in and in other years they have put up a very stubborn fight and always been unlucky. This year they hope to make things interesting. The Tangarakau team are new and may prove that hard work will make them fit. Opunake have two teams entered and some of the players are very fast. If they can keep it up they may prove a hard proposition, Kaponga have three teams. One may show up but the balance cannot expect to do so without training. Patea have one team and they are keeping up to work and are confident. Athletic (Hawera) have been training and on the day will be the fittest team. They will probably prove Lower Hutt’s hardest nut to crack. They say you can have all your Lilburnes, Coulstons and company; we will give them all a fright, and that is the spirit one likes to see a football team have. The Te Puke team are an unknown combination but they say they will give a good account of themselves. Masterton are a young team this year with no Cooke or Mill. Athletic and Lower Hutt should be in the final.
