The Opilii left Dunedin on Monday for Timaru, Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth, where she is due about Saturday. She will proceed from New Plymouth to Wellington. (U.S.S. The John will load at Dunedin on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and New Plymouth, and. is due at Now Plymouth on March 26, proceeding the same day to Port Waikato. (Hooker Bros*’). The Holmglen is to load at Dunedin to-day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and New Plymouth. The vessel is due at New Plymouth , Wednesday and will sail later for Port Waikato. (Hooker Bros.). The Hauturu arrived at New Plymouth from Onehunga yesterday morning. She is expected to complete discharge of 170 tons of cargo -this morning and sail for Wanganui and Oneluinga. MOVEMENTS OF OVERSEAS SHIPS.

PORT BRISBANE DUE TO-MORROW.

After a prolonged delay owing to bad weather, the ShaW, Savill and Albion chartered steamer Port Brisbane was to leave Gisborne on Tuesday for Picton, New Plymouth, Wanganui and Wellington to complete loading. The vessel is due at New Plymouth to-morrow mornin,r to load 10,400 boxes of butter, 5000 crates of cheese and 20,000 freight careases of meat. She is expected to sail for Wanganui Saturday or Sunday and is scheduled to clear Wellington for Southampton, Continent of Europe and London, via Cape Horn and Montevideo, on April 4.

DEPARTURE OF THE PORT ALMA. It is expected that the Port Alma, which is discharging 4128 tons of slag and loading 4700 boxes of butter and 12,000 freight carcases of meat at New Plymouth, will complete to-morrow evening and leave for Nelson, Wellington, Gisborne and Auckland. She is scheduled to reach Auckland on April 6 and to sail for London, via Cape Horn and Dakar, on April 9.

MIDDLESEX REPORTS BY RADIO. Wireless ad.vice recevied by the New Zealand Shipping Company from the Federal Line steamer Middlesex states that she expects to arrive at Auckland from Antwerp next Wednesday afternoon. The vessel has a basic slag cargo for discharge at Auckland and New Plymouth and is expected at New Plymouth early in March. KAIONE SAILS FOR WELLINGTON. The dredge Kaione, having completed her work at New Plymouth, left early yesterday morning for Wellington for overhaul. ULIMAROA’S .TRANSHIPMENTS. The Ulimaroa, which arrived at Wellington on Tuesday morning from Sydney, included in her cargo transhipments from the following vessels: Nieuw Zeeland, Goolburn, Canberra, Yarra, Strathnaver, Moloja, Viminale, Templar, Orsova, Asphalin and Changte.

WAIKAWA FROM PACIFIC COAST.

The Waikawa is due at Auckland from Los Angeles via Papeete to-morrow evening. The vessel has cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. IDLE TONNAGE IN BRITAIN.

The quarterly statistics of idle tonnage published by the Chamber of Shipping at the end of January reveal a slightly more encouraging state of affairs than has been apparent for the past six months. The total of laid-up shipping in Britain on January 1 this year was 728 vessels of 1,966,417 tons net, compared with 778 of 2,089,443 tons on October 1, 1931, a decline of over 123,000 tons, or 5.9 per cent. The figures are also lower than those for July 1 last year (752 of 2,044,092 tons), but they are still higher than those recorded the previous year (665 of 1,593,247 tons). The January figures include ten foreign vessels of 20,340 tons, and 60 British tankers of 232,003 tons, 17 of the latter, aggregating 70,769 tons, being motor-ships. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
