LADIES’ TEAM AT INVERCARGILL kun interrupts the play. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The New South Wales ladies’ tennis team commenced a match at Invercargill to-day agrinst a South Island team and provided a delightful exhibition of the game. Rain commenced about 1 o’clock and play, which was to have started at 2 p.m, was delayed till 4.30, by which time the weather had cleared and the asphalt courts were sufficiently dry. The match will be concluded to-morrow morning, after which the visitora will proceed to Dunedin. Results of to-day’s matches werew-
Singles: Miss Hall (New South Wales) beat Miss Melvin (Invercargill) 6—2, 6—3. Doubles: Misses Valkenburg and Hall (New South Wales) beat Mrs. W. A. Scott (Timaru) and Miss Wake (Christchurch) 6 —3, 6—5. Misses Lloyd and Hartigan (New South Wales) beat Misses Melvin and Guest (Invercargill) 6—5, 6 —4.
