SALVATION ARMY FAREWELL

ADJUTANT MoKENZIE LEAVES. FUNCTION liN.ARMY CITADEL. The New Plymouth Salvation 1 Army Citadel was well filled last night when the members gathered to bid farewell to Adjutant AlcKenzie, who leaves to-day io take up his duties at Hawera, and Mrs. AlcKenzie. During the evening tributes were paid to the work of the adjutant and his wife by Ensign Buick, Corps Sergeant-Major W. H. Harris, Mr. P E Stainton, who paid a special tribute to his work on the relief association Corps Secretary -Richardson, Young People’s -Sergeant-Major P. Corps Cadet Guardian R. Codd and Bandmaster P. Stellon. . In replying, Adjutant McKenzie made a 'brief reference to the work of the relief as-sociation. He said that they had had a great deal to do but they had worked well together and he was sure that his successor would carry on. in bis place. He was very sorry to leave New Plymouth, and he had felt very gratified by the prominent citizens who had. come and informed him that the headquarters should have allowed him to remain in New Plymouth.. Howler, he felt that he was needed in Hawera, and for that reason he was glad to go. He would like to thank not only all of the corps 'but also the Mayor of the town and the pulblic generally for the generous assistance that had always been given* . c Airs. AlcKenzie thanked all present for their good wishes. _ Musical items were given by the band, the orchestra and members of the'Young Peoples Corps. At a- function on Saturday evening Adjutant AlcKenzie was presented with a framed, photograph of the band in recognition of the splendid work be had done for that -body during his stay in New Plymouth.
