WOOL COMPETITION KEEN

BIDDING WITHIN STRICT LIMITS. JD RISE ALL ROUND AT NAPIER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Jan. 11. Keen competition within strict limits was evidenced by the clamour on the buyers’ benches at the opening of the second Napier wool sale this morning. From the outset it was apparent that prices were showing a firming tone compared with th© December Napier sale and at the morning tea adjournment, with two catalogues disposed of, it was estimated that values showed a id rise all round on the December rates at Napier and were slightly firmer than those at Wellington. There were 24,300 bales offered and a fair proportion of fresh wool. Two catalogues were passed. A feature of the sale was keen Continental competition on piece wools, which were selling relatively better than medium priced fleece wool on the day’s quotations.
