COASTAL MOVEMENTS. The Kaimai, from Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton and Nelson, sailed from Nelson yesterday and is due at Nbw Plymouth to-day with 45’0 tons, including transhipments from the Narbada, Matakana, Golden Cross, Port Fremantle and Marama. After discharging the vessel will sail for Greymouth. (U.S.S. Co.). The John, from Dunedin, via Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington, is expected at New Plymouth on Saturday. (Hooker Bros.).

The Totara will load at Lyttelton Thursday for New Plymouth, via Wellington. She was delayed two days on the West Coast. She is due about Saturday. The Totara will proceed to Westport to load a full cargo of coal for New Plymouth. (U.S.S. Co.). The Port Waikato, from Dunedin, Timaru, Lytteltbn and Wellington, is expected at New Plymouth on January 23. She will proceed to Whangarei, Tauranga and Sydney. (Hooker Bros.) The Kini is to load at Dunedin on Friday for New Plymouth, via ports. She is due at New Plymouth about January 20. (UjS.S. Co.) ' The Hauturu is expected at New Plymouth to-morrow from Onehunga. She will proceed to Wanganui. (Northern Co.). OVERSEAS SHIPS’ MOVEMENTS. The 'Matakana arrived at New Plymouth last night from Port Chalmers to load 10,500 boxes of butter and 10,655 crates of cheese for Britain. She was berthed at the Newton King wharf. On Thursday she will proceed to Wellington, Timaru and Napier in that order. From Napier she is to be dispatched for London, via Panama, on January 25. Captain H. Gordon is in command and he has associated with him the following officers: Chief, Mr. R. E. Thompson; second, Mr. H. M. Thompson; third, Air. J. G. Allan; fourth, Mr. D. G. Turner; chief engineer, Mr. E. H. Read; second, Mr. J. Chappell; third, Mr. A. E. Brown; fourth, Mr. J. Hartbottle; fifth, Mr. R. Todd; sixth, Mr. J. J. Roberts; seventh, Mr. B, Moore; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr. M. Galbraith; second, Mr. H. Meacock; wireless operator, Mr. J. P. Foye; chief steward, Mr. A. Roberts. Dr. C. M. Smale was ship’s surgeon for the voyage. SAILING OF PORT FREMANTLE. The Port Fremantle, which has been at New Plymouth since Thursday, sailed at 5 p.m. yesterday for Napier to continue loading. The vessel loaded 9000 boxes ot butter, 8000 crates of cheese and 14,500 freight carcases of meat at New Plymouth. HAURAKI DUE IN THREE MONTHS.. The Hauraki, which has been unloading Pacific coast cargo at New Plymouth, sailed last night for Bluff, Melbourne, Sydney and Vancouver. She will load again at Vancouver on February 27, at San Francisco, and at Los Angeles on March 12 for Auckland, Wellington, New Plymouth, I/ytteStor, Dunedin, Mielbjourne and Sydney. She should reach New Plymouth about April 12. HERTFORD LOADING. To continue loading for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, the Federal Line steamer Hertford arrived at Auckland from Gisborne on Monday. The vessel will complete loading at Wellington, from where she is to sail for London on January 21. THE CABARITA. After unloading a phosphate cargo at New Plymouth and Wanganui the steamer Cabarita left Wanganui for Westport on Friday evening to replenish bunkers before proceeding to Makatea Island to load another phosphate cargo. MATAROA FOR LONDON. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa, which is loading at Auckland, is scheduled to sail for Southampton and London, via Panama, at daybreak tomorrow with passengers and mail. SULPHUR FROM JAPAN. Advice has been received by Kempthorne, Prosser and Company Limited, that the steamer Sorachi Maru sailed from Japan on December 24 with a cargo of Japanese sulphur for Auckland, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and Wanganui. She is expected to arrive at Auckland about January 22. WHALE ROCK BUOY. The Marine Department advises that the Whale Rock buoy at Bay of Islands has drifted out of position and will be replaced in a few days. FAMOUS FERRY STEAMER. Royal Iris, the Wallasey-to-Liverpool ferry steamer, which has been sold by Wallasey Corporation to Messrs. Palmer Brothers, for £2lOO, for pleasure cruises, played an important part in the most, famous naval exploit of the war when she landed troops under heavy shell fire during a raid on Zeebrugge. Commander Valentine Gibbs was killed when - the bridge of the Iris, from which he directed operations, was wrecked by enemy shell fire. The prefix Royal was given to the vessel by command of the King for the part it played in the war. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
