THE PRICE OF PETROL.

(To the Editor.) Sir —According to information I have gathered, the Government has- made a contract with a certain motor spirit company to supply spirit at Is. 9d. per gallon, and it is available to all Government servants and officials at the above price, providing they fill in a form which qualifies them to obtain their supplies at the company’s depot. Knowing this information is correct, it ’ shows quite plainly that the motor spirit companies and retailers are making undue profits; also it shows that the Government is lacking in its duty to the people of this country by not protecting them against such profiteering, which amounts to about 6d. per gallon if obtained from the ■bowser. Perhaps you or some of your readers will be able to enlighten me more on this subject.—lD am, etc., A. J. MLDEY. Warea, January 11, 1932.
