AHITITI-TONGAPORUTU

GENERAL ITEMS. » (From Our Own Correspondent.) ■A pleasant dance was held in the Tongaporutu hall on Tuesday evening. There were many visitors from the beach. Two novelty dances were held., the spot waltz being won by Mrs. McKeon (New Plymouth) and Mr. V. Foreman, and the Monte Carlo dance by Miss Page and partner. Mr. Ken Fuller was master of ceremonies. (Many camping parties are still on the Tongaporutu beach, visitors coming from all parts of the North Island. Recent arrivals at the camping site are Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and family (Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. Potter and. family (New Plymouth), Mr. and Mrs. Hughes (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. Mouat and family (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. Wily (Awanui), Rev. G. T. Beale and Mrs. Beale (Stratford), Mr. and Mrs. Wetherell .(.Auckland), Mr. and. Mrs. McKeon and. family (New Plymouth), Mr. and Mrs. LoUb (New Plymouth), Mrs. and Miss Beale and Miss Connell (Remuera), Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin (Wanganui), Mr. and Mrs. Pryce (New Plymouth). At a recent meeting of the Ahititi Tennis Club new rules pertaining to ladder matches were drawn up. Messrs. Brown, OlSulliivan and Lewie were appointed a selection committee to arrange the team for the forthcoming cup matches. Mr. Tom O’Sullivan was elected club captain and Mr. H. Lewis vicecaptain. The first match will be played against Uruti during the last week in January. On Friday ©vetting the Okau hall committee held a very successful dance, the hall being crowded with residents from the surrounding districts. Dance music was supplied by Miss O’iSiillivan, with extras by Mrs. Gray and Misses Shaw and Cannel]. Messrs. McGregor, Cannell and. Anderson were masters of ceremony, and. the supper arrangements were in. the hands of Mr. Blanchard and his many helpers.. Old-time dances proved popular among young and old. Mr. and Mrs. Goxigh, Dannevirke, are the guests of IMr.'and Mrs. Jimmieson.

Mrs. Conney, New Plymouth, is visiting Mrs. Anderson, Okau. Miss Matthews,, who has been "the guest of Mrs. Southcott, has returned to New Plymouth.

(Mrs. J. Gibbs is visiting Auckland. Mr. A. O'Donnell has returned to Ta ngaraikau. Mr. Sig. Erick? en is an inmate of the New Plymouth hospital.
