CHRISTMAS GOOSE HANDICAP. Tie Christmas goose handicap at the Fitzroy Bowling Club was concluded yesterday. As in former years there was a good entry, 21 “facing the starter.” There were three sections, each player getting six games in the preliminary rounds. 1 For the semi-finals eight players qualified with five or more wins, and on Monday evening the following closely contested games were played:— Quane beat Smith. McNeill beat Harris. Lyall beat Okey. Day beat Martin. In the second round, played last night, Quane beat McNeill ana Lyall beat Day, leaving Lyall and Quane to play the final game. The Lyall-Quane final was keenly contested, Quane winning by the narrow margin of two points, the scores being 19 to 21. AUROA DEFEAT WAREA. Two Auroa rinks obtained a substantial victory over Warea B in a bowling match on Saturday. Details are as follow:-— 1 A. W. Sandford, Webby, Bradford, Kilpatrick (s) 25 — Bredin, Harte, Julian, Muir (s) — 15 Sheerin, Duff, Carey, Johnston (s) 34 — Kira, Andrews, Gray, Kupe (s) — 14
