NATIONAL YEARLING SALES. THE JANUARY OFFERING. The catalogue for the National yearling sales to be held at Trentham on Thursday, January 21, is now available from the auctioneers. A glance through the index is quite sufficient to impress upon the racing man that the catalogue contains particulars of the breeding of a remarkably large number of exceptional yearlings, 37 different breeders being represented. Amongst those who have contributed numerically strong consignments are the Elderslie Stud Ltd., Oamaru; Mr. G. M. Currie, Koatanui; Mr. John Donald, Westmere; Mr. G. A. Kain, Gladstone'Park; Mr. T. H. Lowry, Okawa; The Auckland Stud Co., Otahuhu; Mrs. M. A. Perry, Taradale; Estate late A. F. Roberts, Ataahua;Mr. Ralph Holden, Mana Stud, Te Mahanga; Dr. E. H. B. Milsom, Auckland; Mr. John Gleeson, Bell Block; Mr. D. McClure, Prebbleton; Mrs. A. F. Lawrie, Feilding; Mr. G. F. Moore, Bushy Park, and Mr. E. B. Newton, Ashburton. Amongst the yearlings in these drafts are included full relatives to such first class performers as Phar Lap, Commendation, The Dimmer, Veilmond, Agrion, I Honour, Eaglet, Mask, Episode and half - brothers, or half-sisters or very near relatives to Nightmarch, Ammon Ra and many others. There is an unusually large number of highly related yearlings «in the smaller drafts to be offered. There are 32 sires represented, including all the leading sires in the Dominion. In addition such well-known sires in Australia are also represented as Rossendale, Spearhead, Manfred, March Along, Bold and Bad (by Swynford) and Bonnement (by Tracery) and two sires formerly at the stud in New Zealand, Diacquenod and Silverado. An interesting feature in connection with the catalogue is the statistics referring to past successes of yearirngs purchased at previous sales.
