Don’t Lap led her companion. all the way in Imin 4sec. King’s Archer isnot.a. good track horse. Gold Dawn went an easy six, moving very evenly all the way. She is a fit mare. * Glowlight, with an advantage in weight, was about half a length in front of Merry Way at the end of five furlongs in Imin 2 4-ssec, the first three taking 37#ec. Both youngsters went exceptionally well and Merry Way appeared to have something in reserve. Little. Doubt and Orapai staged an interesting trial over a mile. Orapai pulled in the early stages and Little Doubt finished too well for him In Imin 44 l-ssec, the last five taking Imin 5 2-ssec. Little Doubt went very well and should be hard to beat wherever he is produced during the holidays.. Orapai was far from disgraced and' is improving with every gallop. Waipapa and Paparua did easy work on the inner. Paparua is a three-year-old by Ruapapa from the Stewards’ winner Inap. He recently joined R. Johnson’s team. Singer was in front of Gibraltar at the end of six furlongs in Imin 18sec. Singer did hi# task well and is a very fit horse at present. Gibraltar Is improving ip looks and condition all the time, but i# inclined to work lazily. Easter Time was not bustled to register Imin'l7 l-ssec for six furlongs, the last half taking 51 4-ssec. He is coming on nicely and doing all that is being asked of him in good style. For her final trial before leaving for Ellerslie Lady Quex was sent six furlongs on the rails on the traek proper. With the lightweight apprentice ,A. McLeod aboard, in a fairly heavy saddle, she would be carrying over 7st. From a moving start she was soon into her stride and passed the first furlong post in 12sec. She was then going in great style, and the next two took 23sec, the half mile 47sec and the full distance Imin 12 l-ssec. This is easily the best time ever recorded on the track either in a trial or in a race, and from the manner in -which the mare finished her task her prospects in the Railway Handicap must be regarded as very bright. She was sent overland by motor float yesterday. ROUND ABOUT HAWERA. The weather was fine for training operations on Saturday morning. The track was ft little holding early, becoming faster as the morning wore on, and the trial grass was available for horses doing fast work. Awaken was the first to work, going once round at a good three-quarter pace. Balloon covered a mile and a-quarter at the. same pace, sprinting the last two in 25sec. . Sllvermine jumped off at the mile post, going the first five furlong's under a strong-pull, and running home the last three in 37$sec. This horse is very well at present. Lottery (Stockley) was of no use to The Tiger (Flowers), who beat him by half the length of the straight, m 4bJ too.
