PUKEHO SCHOOL FUNCTION

TRIBUTES. PAID TO TEACHER. The rain had ceased and the sun shone as though to welcome Father Christmas to the Pukeho school break-up party yesterday. He had to assist him a wellstocked Christmas tree which betokened warm interest in the children’s entertainment and the promise of good fare to follow. Mr. Goodwin, chairman of the school committee, presided. He praised the work the relieving teacher, Miss L. Woolridge, had carried out in the short time she had been at Pukeho. and regretted it had not been possible to obtain her appointment as permanent teacher. Murray George, one of the senior pupils, presented Wiss Woolridge with a crystal powder bowl, and Muriel Goodwin gave her a bouquet. After the gifts from the tree had been presented by Father Christmas, Mr. H. Lambert, the children and their friends and visitors, were entertained at afternoon tea. The function was arranged by Mrs. Goodwin and Mrs. George, assisted by the settlers in the | district. 1
