DEMAND FOR THREEPENCES
NEW ZEALAND ‘SCOTTISH CUSTOM 1 HALF BRITISH MINTING TAKEN. By Telesrraph—Presi Asan.—Copyright. Rec. 6.5 p.m. London, Dee. 8. Every newspaper is giving prominence to the disclosure in the Master of the Mint’s report that more than half the year's output of £250,000 worth, of threepenny pieces went to New Zealand, “where so many Scottish compatriots had carried their virtues and customs to form a great and flourishing Dominion.” Incidentally the figures reveal the British hatred of threepenny pieces. Only one-half per cent, of the output was retained in Britain and Ireland.
