Charged with carrying a. greater load on his motor-lorry than it was licensed for, Hector McCabe pleaded .guilty. The chief inspector (Mr. R. Day) said this, lie had found, was the same load as was dealt with by the magistrate at Waitara recently for overloading with firewood. Mr. Day said he did not want to rub it in,” but desired to refute a statement made at Waitara 'that two inspectors had examined the brakes and found them all right. The fact was that an inspector examined the brakes in New Plymouth three hours later and they appeared to be all right. ; The magistrate: They were all right without the load. - McCabe was convicted and ordered to pay 16s. costs. For having carried, more than a certain .weight on a motor-lorry on November 23 without having a heavy traffic license, Charles Kidson was brought before the Court. He was bringing firewood into New Plymouth, said Mr. Day. He had admitted a weight of three tons to the inspector. Ho had had a license ilB months ago.
