TRADE GREATLY BENEFITS

AUSTRALIA-CANADA TREATY EFFECTS OF ADVERTISING NEW DEMAND FOR PRODUCE APPEAL MADE BY MINISTER By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 10.45 p.m. Sydney, Dec. 8. Advice has been received from Ottawa to the effect that the recent reciprocal Canadian-Australian treaty has substantially increased trade between the two Dominions. Judicious and effective advertising placed in Canadian papers by the Australian director of publicity has created a demand for Australian products which hitherto had not existed.

■Mr. H. H. Stevens, Canadian Minister of Trade and Commerce, says the new treaty will be mutually advantageous and has already justified the hopes of the two peoples. He also expressed the hope that Australians en route to Britain would travel by the Canadian route and combine bueiness with pleasure. Mr. Stevens added that there was no contact like personal contact.
