Aomori officials. are appealing to tim Government to grant 20,000,000 yen to relieve 900,000 inhabitants of the prefecture who are facing starvation as the. result of the worst famine in many years. There is unprecedented distress. The Imperial household has granted monetary relief and has sent an officer to investigate the conditions.
