WEALTH MATERIALISING
RUSSIAN COMPETITION MAY LEAD IN PRODUCTION PROBLEM FOR THE NATIONS FACTOR CANNOT BE IGNORED By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.30 p.m. London, Dec. 8. The Chamber of Commerce in a report on Russian trade emphasises that the na tions must consider their attitude towards Russia/ whose enormous wealth the Soviet is rapidly materialising. The report says it is impossible to cut Russia out of the community of nations, whatever her politics. The five year plan progresses in production, so that Russia may in a few years be the world’s greatest producer of oil, coal, pig iron, steel, timber, chemicals, grain, eugar, furs, cotton and dairy produce. She may be able to undersell any country if allowed to continue the present export policy. Britain cannot tolerate the existing unequal trade balance, especially when Russia’s payments for exports to England are used to buy tools from England’s competitors.
