FIVE BURNED TO DEATH
SHOCKING MOTOR SMASH CAR AND CYCLE IN FLAMES HELPLESSNESS OF CROWD VICTIMS TRAPPED IN CAR By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. London, Oct. 12. One of the most shocking accidents in the history of motoring occurred today at Maidstone, where a motor-cycle and “baby” car crashed and burst into flames which soared 40 feet high. Five persons were burned to death in the presence of scores of helpless onlookers. Four of the victims were trapped in the car, while the driver of the cycle was flung head foremost through the window. His pillion-rider was gravely injured, his clothes being burned off.
